Having graduated as Naval architect from Wuhan University of Technology in 1994, Jane started working in Jiangnan Shipyard as a trainee. In the shipyard, she has worked in many departments from execution of construction preparation, quality control to weld and construction detail design. She delivered 3 vessels of 34,000 DWT handysize bulk carriers. Apart from ships, Jane also worked on many land projects as designer, project manager and office QA.

 

To develop her professional career of naval architect, she joined Conan Wu & Associates (Shanghai) Co. Ltd, Shanghai in 2007 – Now it is WÄRTSILÄ Ship Design, Shanghai. Her assignment is ship designer, using Auto CAD to execute ship and offshore hull design, finalise construction plan, structure plan, general arrangement, and submits to owner and classification for approval.

 

Prior to joining TMC, Jane worked for Lloyd’s Register EMEA, London first in Ship Emergency Response Service Department (SERS), providing 24 hour, 365 day naval architectural support for marine casualties. She has been qualified as an on-call team member in SERS. Her main duty is to create ship model, calculate/analyse strength & stability and give remedial advice to the ship. Then moved on to Structure Analysis Service Department (SAS) where she gained experience on structure analysis using Finite Element model.

 

She has recently completed post graduate degree at the Newcastle University and is currently studying MSc Mathematics at the Open University.
