Naomi started at TMC Medway in September 2018 after previously being an Emergency Management Co-ordinator for Civil Defence and Emergency Management in New Zealand. Naomi has a diverse background in emergency management including experience in natural disasters (tsunami, earthquake and severe weather events) and marine casualties, including the groundings of the RENA in New Zealand and KEA TRADER in New Caledonia. She has a range of experience in dealing with the environmental issues associated with marine casualties and salvage operations (co-ordination of shoreline/ oil spill response, community engagement and communication). In addition, she has worked for a range of government agencies including New Zealand Police and Customs. During this time Naomi has developed a high level of expertise in community engagement (especially with culturally diverse communities) and disaster communications. In this regard she brings a unique range of skills to support TMC Marine Emergency Response Service portfolio.
Naomi joined TMC Marine to support cargo operations at the company Medway office. She provides cargo surveying services on a wide range of commodities under claim or interest on behalf of shippers, carriers, and consignees and/or their respective insurers. Naomi has experience with distressed cargo operations and/or General Average surveying in significant marine casualties and most recently supported operations on the MAERSK HONAM disaster. Naomi has a background in compliance and legislation, well developed skills in co-ordination and administration and previous experience with a wide range of commodities.
