Graham spent 25 years sailing predominantly in oil tankers worldwide, including VLCC, ULCC, Suez Max and product tankers, including 6 years in command of VLCC and ULCC’s. Other vessel types included bulk carriers, LPG, passenger ferries, and

He came ashore in 2002 and passed a CPE in law. Upon graduation he took up a position as Inspector of Marine Accidents with the UK governments MAIB, and during his six years investigated a wide range of marine accidents leading to the drafting of publicly available reports.

More recently Graham has experience as Marine Manager with a leading international London based law firm in their Emergency Response Team and attended on site to collect evidence and interview the crew following a wide range of marine incidents including collisions, groundings, fires, accidents to persons, cargo contaminations, anchor damage to subsea cables and pipelines.

He was the Project Logistics Team lead in Kazakhstan during the development of the huge Kashagan Offshore Oilfield Contract Holder for the ice breaking tugs, LQB’s, survey vessels, barges and tankers, for 6 years, and Project Cargo Offloading Facility Operations Manager in the Tengiz 3GI/3GP development during the offloading by rolling and lifting of over-sized cargoes up to 2,500 M.T. for a period of two years in Kazakhstan.

In addition to his deep sea and offshore experience, Graham has provided expert reports on collisions, groundings, unsafe ports and berths, use of tugs and manoeuvring issues, seaworthiness, cargo loss, shift and stowage, incidents involving leisure craft and the prosecution of those involved, performance claims due to bad weather, personal injury and fatalities, pollution incidents and fouling of submarine pipelines and cables, and cases where the Master has been incarcerated by the coastal state.

Graham has undertaken vessel navigation audits, vessel inspections, and the role of Project QHSE Rep during HL operations.

He has been expert witness attending during arbitrations, mediations and criminal court proceedings in the UK and other jurisdictions including France and Mexico.

Graham joined TMC Marine in April 2019 as a Consultant Master Mariner, he was then appointed as TMC Head of Mariners. He has continued consultancy work with TMC since retiring in 2023.
