Maria is a Chartered Naval Architect with a background in casualty investigation and response as well as marine claims and disputes. Has acted as client representative during salvage operations and has worked on a number of wreck removal projects in Europe and SE Asia. Has provided advice on cases including groundings, collisions, sinkings, container loss, mooring failures and has worked on site to support marine casualties providing technical support and cost control of engineering, fabrication and logistics.
Maria has extensive experience in Hull & Machinery damage claims, having provided advice on numerous casualties, supervised repairs and assisted in shipyard negotiations. Has mainly been involved in repairs, conversions/upgrades and design of modifications for bulk carriers, tankers, containerships, offshore support vessels, military vessels and superyachts. Has also attended many marine operations acting as Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) for lifting, load out and transportation of heavy and high value cargo.
Previously worked for a design and engineering consultancy working on defence projects, small boat design and repair work; specialising in mooring capability review and optimisation. Maria also worked for a technical/consulting office in Greece gaining experience in fishing vessel design, new building and repair work.
Prior to joining TMC, Maria had over 6 years international experience working for an independent marine and engineering consultancy in the UK, Italy, China and Singapore. Maria is fluent in English, Greek and Spanish.
