TMC Medway covers all aspects of general marine surveying are undertaken by our consultant surveyors worldwide. TMC undertakes loss prevention surveys on behalf of a variety of clients including Owners, Charterers, Shippers, P&I clubs and Underwriters. Increasingly these are for high value vessels such as cruise & passenger ships, LNG tankers, offshore vessels and large container carriers. Our services include:

  • Pre-purchase surveys of second-hand tonnage

Cargo Surveys

TMC Marine are regularly appointed to carry out surveys on all manner of cargoes carried by sea, air and road, whether containerised, bulk or in break bulk format. On these occasions TMC are requested to investigate the nature, cause and extent of damages and losses, resulting from incidents occurring either prior to loading, during transit or at destination ports/locations. In addition, TMC regularly carry out loss investigations following pilferage from road haulage vehicles or warehouses.

TMC experience and expertise in cargo surveys is vast and covers, but is not limited to bulk and bagged commodities (minerals, grains, cement, etc.); forest products (timber, plywood, paper, etc.); refrigerated perishable goods (fruit, chilled meat, dairy products, pharmaceuticals, etc.); frozen goods (IQF products, meat, etc.); steel (coils, re-bars, sheets, pipes, etc.), machinery, project cargo and all general containerised goods.” Our client base for cargo surveys includes vessel owners, P & I Clubs, Cargo Insurers, Haulier liability insurers and cargo receivers.

TMC also carry out loss prevention surveys such as pre-shipment inspection of cargoes (condition, packing methods, packaging suitability, labelling) and supervision of loading and lashing / securing / sea-fastening on board of vessels.

Surveys can be performed to the client’s own specification and where required, reported in the client’s own pro-forma survey report format.
