Farrukh Anwar has over three decades of maritime engineering and management experience. Through his seagoing career, he has gained a broad experience across crude oil tankers, bulk carriers, container vessels, general cargo ships, Ro-Ro ferries, ocean-going tugs, and DP vessels — serving as Chief Engineer on crude oil tankers and Ro-Ro ferries. This foundation is complemented by 12 years of senior shore-based experience as a Fleet Manager for MOL Tankship Management.
His technical expertise is anchored in a decade-long specialisation in dual-fuel methanol propulsion systems — spanning both 1st Generation MAN LGI engines and the advanced 3rd Generation methanol engines, which utilise a sophisticated water+methanol and water+fuel emulsion injection process. His involvement has been comprehensive: from active participation in engine design and planning, through shipbuilding and delivery, to the execution of complex dry-docking programmes for dual-fuel vessels. Farrukh’s career highlight was leading the world’s first successful green methanol voyage — a milestone underscoring his commitment to sustainable maritime operations.
As a Consultant Marine Engineer with TMC, he provides, independent advice on marine casualties, incident investigations, and technical disputes for P&I Clubs, H&M Insurers, Owners, and Law Firms.
He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, a UK Unlimited Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (III/2) , and advanced certifications in MAN dual-fuel control systems, FRAMO cargo pumping systems, and DNV-certified ISM-ISPS-MLC auditing.
