Akhlak joined TMC Marine London in June 2026. He is a results-driven maritime leader with 30 years seagoing experience, including about 14 years in command, followed by 5 years ashore in quality assurance and safety, combining operational expertise with commercial acumen.

Specialising in marine casualty investigation, risk management, and safety mitigation, Akhlak has extensive experience with regulatory compliance, training, and safety management systems (ISM/ISPS).

Akhlak has played a vital role, leading and conducting marine accident investigations, extra special audits and crew training in his role as quality assurance and QHSE superintendent. He has also initiated and successfully implemented safety programmes across a large fleet and across the company.

He has represented the safety department at multiple seminars with presentations conducted across the world and has a strong commitment to reinforcing a safety culture onboard as well as ashore.

Recent experience includes conducting pre-PSC inspections, Internal ISM/ISPS/MLC and Dynamic Navigation audits and incident investigations involving a collision in poor visibility, life changing injury to crew and and on site investigation following the loss of life in an enclosed space.
