Ian joined TMC in June, 2008 after 19 years at sea, during which time he served on a variety of vessel types. He started his seagoing career onboard a German registered general cargo ship, later becoming a deck officer with a British company.

In 1989 he joined the Everard Shipping coastal fleet where he served on tankers, subsequently joining BP Shipping where he obtained his Class 2/1 ticket and thereafter served on cruise ships, Ro-Pax ferries and freight ferries. In 1999 he obtained his Class 1 ticket and continued with a variety of vessel types, eventually going into the oil sector where he served aboard an FPSO vessel and FSO’s.

In 2005 Ian came ashore to BP Oil International, London where he worked in the Cargo Assurance department where he was responsible for supporting traders, cargo operators, ship operators and demurrage negotiators.
